Michael Arrington:
[T]he tremendous opportunities that arise in down markets. Engineers are much easier to hire. The press have fewer startups and stories to divide their attention. The pond certainly gets smaller, but there are far fewer people fishing, too. For most startups, this is a time to blossom.

Bad news does not exist in the American mind – it is very short-lived. Hence, they see causations that wouldn’t even qualify as fairy tales to Europeans. Nevertheless, selffulfilling prophecies are much underrated and can be extremely powerful, so one has to wonder what will become of the American way. It seems Obama fits perfectly in a society that is otherwise governed by naivity. But does the current market turmoil have the capacity to kill the American spirit ? I really don’t know, but it will be interesting to watch.
Life goes on, it always does. We were not born to be happy, we can’t be happy, here. We were born to fight, to learn, to develop, that’s where our roots are. And so it is, and so it will be. Whenever we get close to fulfilling our pathetic earthly dreams, the Gods will strike upon us and show us our place. Until we do learn. I have been there, I understand the true meaning of the concept “opportunity”.
“A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest… a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
Albert Einstein.
It’s all there, and it’s true. All the suffering and pain in the world can be explained by our inability to submit to this one simple universal rule.
Let’s have a good Christmas this year folks.
